President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday
commiserated with the Urhobo people of Delta
on the death of the President-General of the
Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU), Major-General
Patrick Aziza (rtd).

Aziza, who was the first Military Administrator
of Kebbi state between 1991 and 1992, died on
Saturday at the age of 67.
Jonathan’s condolence message was contained in
a statement issued by his Special Adviser on
Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, in Abuja.

The statement also extended the president’s
condolences to the Aziza family, the
government and people of Delta as well as the
late General’s friends, associates and former
military colleagues.

“The President joins them in mourning the
passage of the former minister and one-time
military governor of Kebbi.

“Aziza selflessly dedicated himself to the service
of his people and community after retiring from
a distinguished career in the nation’s armed
forces.

“As they grieve over his death, Jonathan urges
members of the Aziza family, the UPU, his
friends and former colleagues in the Nigerian

“They should be comforted by the knowledge
that Aziza served his people and country to the
best of his God-given abilities while he lived.’’
