Its Time to Quit Smoking

Source: Wish Bowl

"I am going to quit smoking tomorrow..." How
many times have you said this and how many
more times have you heard it? Smokers, like
alcoholics, make this pledge many times in their
lives because they need to and they break it for
the simple reason that pledges are always
meant to be broken. This does not mean that
every time you will take a pledge you will break
it. Try to make this the last one because you can
do it and you are going to do it. Believe it and
you will, here's some help:

• Believe in yourself. Believe that you can quit. Think
about some of the most difficult things you have
done in your life and realize that you have the guts
and determination to quit smoking. It's up to you.

• After reading this list, sit down and write your own
list, customized to your personality and way of
doing things. Create your own plan for quitting.

•Set a quit date. Decide what day you will extinguish
your cigarettes forever. Write it down. Plan for it.

• Prepare your mind for the "first day of the rest of
your life". You might even hold a small ceremony
when you smoke you last cigarette, or on the
morning of the quit date.

• Drink lots of water. Water is good for you anyway,
and most people don't get enough. It will help flush
the nicotine and other chemicals out of your body,
plus it can help reduce cravings by fulfilling the "oral
desires" that you may have.

• You need a good reason to quit. Simply deciding to
quit because the sky is blue is not a sufficient
reason. The need to quit smoking is obvious, but the
desire to quit needs to come from inside in order for
the process to be successful.

• Look for small rewards that you can give yourself
as you make progress. You are not likely to just
quit cold turkey with no complications. Set up small
rewards that will help you to want to make progress
towards ultimately quitting. This can be a great
motivation to keep you on target.

• Plan out your quitting strategy.

• Decide how you
want to try to quit and stick to it. Set a specific
amount of time for your plan. If after a time, say six
weeks you have not quit, work on a new plan. This
will allow ample time to try each method, while still
giving yourself flexibility to try something else.

• Work to overcome your struggles. If you are
smoking due to stressful things in your life, you
need to deal with the stress before you can
successfully quit. Regardless of the reason why
you are smoking, it needs to be dealt with in able to
quit for good.

• Set up a punishment for yourself. For example, if
you generally stop at a Cafe each day for a coffee
you might consider skipping that on days when you
have fallen short of your goals for smoking.

• Whatever punishment you select, make sure it is
something that you care about.
Seek out help from your friends and family. You
need support as you are trying to quit, and this will
help you to ensure that you are not alone in the
entire process.

• Look for someone to quit with you. If you are
entirely on your own, you are going to be much
more likely to slip back into smoking. If someone is
working with you and holding you accountable, you
are more likely to struggle to succeed. Working to
quit smoking is not easy, but hard tasks are much
easier to accomplish with a partner.

• Aim to quit for good. This might seem a bit strange,
but if you are just planning to quit for a weekend
you are not going to put much effort into the
process. If you are planning to quit for good, a lot
more time and effort is going to go into the process
as well as your plan to quit.

• Look for ways to take your mind off cigarettes. If
you are always thinking about cigarettes, you may
find that you are much more tempted to smoke.

• Reading a book, exercising, talking on the phone,
surfing the internet and even cooking are all great
ways to occupy your mind and keep from thinking
about when your last cigarette was.

Conclusion:

The decision to stop smoking can be one of the
best choices that you can make for your health
and your life. So it makes sense to put
everything into it when you decide to quit
ensuring success. Think of the things that
motivate you, find a support system, and use
tips like the ones in this article to create a plan
that is sure to succeed.

Most people are readily aware that stopping
smoking can improve their health, but learning
how to really conquer the urges to smoke is not
easy. With so many temptations circulating
around, as well as the stresses of daily life it is
easy to see why jumping into a pack of
cigarettes seems like a good idea.

But, the bottom line is that you need to just take
it one day at a time and step by. You can achieve
the ability to quit smoking, but it is something
that you do not want to look too far in the
future. You do not want to get to the place
where you think you are so strong that you can
put yourself in vulnerable situations.

You need
to surround yourself with other non-smokers,
or you can hang with the same friends you have
always had as long as they are respectful to the
path which you are walking; they may even be
inspired by you to take control of their own life.

KUDOS TO NDLEA: N199m cocaine concealed in perfumes, capacitors

Two traders, who allegedly concealed drugs
suspected to be cocaine worth 119 million naira
inside capacitors and perfumes, have been arrested
by officials of National Drug Law Enforcement
Agency, NDLEA.
The duo of Daniel
Marvin and Akubuo
Victor, said to have
succeeded in
beating security
checks in Brazil ,
were arrested
during the inward
screening of
passengers on an
Emirate Airline flight
from Dubai, at the
Nnamdi Azikiwe
International Airport,
Federal Capital
Territory, Abuja.
However, during interrogation, they told NDLEA
officials that they were tempted by the offer of half a
million naira for the botched trip.
The NDLEA Commander at Abuja Airport, Mr.
Hamisu Lawan, gave the names of the suspects as
Daniel Marvin and Akubuo Victor.
According to him, “Daniel Marvin, with Nigerian
Passport Number A05545613, was arrested during
the inward screening of passengers on an Emirate
Airline flight from Dubai. He was found in
possession of 7.580kg of cocaine hidden inside
capacitors.
“The second suspect, Akubuo Victor was found in
possession of 5.750kg of cocaine hidden inside
perfumes. Both suspects were coming from Brazil
when they were arrested.”
Twenty-nine years old Marvin, a trader from Abia
State, during interrogation, claimed that he was
introduced into drug trafficking by his childhood
friend.
According to him, “I am a young man searching for
business breakthrough. In the process, my friend
told me that I could earn half a million naira by just
going to Brazil.
“Aside that, he told me that they would buy my
return ticket and that all I needed to do was to bring
in cocaine. He assured that the drugs will never be
detected because of the way it was packed.
“I succeeded in passing all routes from Brazil.
Unfortunately, the drug was detected by NDLEA
officers during search at Abuja Airport.”
On his part, 26-year-old Favour Victor, said: “I am a
trader in Anambra State. But at a point, business
started dwindling and I needed to revive it.
“I was lured into drug trafficking by a friend who
promised to pay me N500,000. The drug was
hidden inside new perfume containers.
“I was told that it was a new method that will never
be detected. But it was uncovered by the NDLEA
officers,” said the father of two.
Commenting on the arrest, Chairman/Chief
Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, assured
that the agency would continue to frustrate
activities of drug barons through superior
intelligence.
He said: “These arrests and seizures are products
of superior counter-narcotic strategies.
“The agency is prepared and deeply committed to
the eradication of drug trafficking cartels through
similar intelligence driven operation.”

Nigeria @ 54: My govt has delivered – Jonathan

From Vanguard:

Abuja— President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, on
the occasion of the country’s 54th independence
anniversary gave his administration a passmark for
delivering on most indicators of good governance.
In a nationwide broadcast to mark the anniversary,
President Jonathan also called on members of the
Boko Haram sect to lay down their arms and
embrace peace, saying anybody who has genuine
grievances would be heard. He said the country will
ensure the safety of every Nigerian, adding that the
country’s armed forces need support to fight the
terrorists.
But the President’s award of a pass mark to his
administration came on a day the Mo Ibrahim
Foundation released the 2014 Ibrahim Index of
African Governance,  IIAG, which ranked Nigeria
37th out of 52 in the overall governance scale,
rating the nation 45.8 per cent lower than the
African average (51.5 per cent). The country scored
lower than the regional average for West Africa
which stands at 52.2 per cent and ranked 12th out
of 15 in the region.

T.B Joshua warns people to stop talking bad about his church, claims he saw building collapse coming

During his Sunday September 28th message to his
church members, prophet T.B Joshua said he saw
the Friday 12th church building collapse happen in
a vision. He also warned people to desist from
speaking bad about the church and questioning his
calling. He said those who are speaking evil of his
ministry will suffer for it. Find the full text of his
message below...

"G ood morning church and viewers all over
the world. I want to thank you for your prayer
and your love for the victims and relations of
all those involved in the incident.
The battle is for the Lord. I really want to
thank God. God has been doing so much. We
need to know a thousand victories, all the
way long. Glory and honour to God Almighty.

For those who are outside the Lord, they would not
know. When you are outside God, you will not
know what I am talking about. When you are
outside the light, you can’t understand what I am
talking about.
For the three weeks before the incident, if you
heard my message and sat down, you would know
I was giving you a vision and prophetic Word on
how to handle the situation at hand. Trials and
tests are meant for our belief. I go by the
directives of God.

I salute the martyrs of faith and the victims. I also
salute their relations. My love and my prayers are
always with them. The martyrs, victims and their
relations, what they would like to see is the work
of God continue. That is what they died for,
suffered for and are living for.
From your heart, commit the relations of the
martyrs to God. Ask God to strengthen them and
open their understanding more to know and
understand what happened here. Ask God to give
them the grace to continue in God. In Him we live;
in Him we move. Ask God to give them the grace to
continue the work of salvation.

Remember the victims in one way or the other and
ask for God’s intervention. Ask God for His power
of resurrection within them and outside them, in
Jesus Christ’s name we pray.
Remain silent and give thanks to God, within you. I
want you to change your confession and give
thanks to God.

Listen to God, not men. Don’t let your faith be
disturbed. If anyone wants to disturb your faith
with their negative words and message, remember
God. See the need of God the more. See the need
of serving the Lord the more, the need of moving
closer to Him.
Don’t be disturbed. Pray for the relations; pray for
the victims. That is your assignment – your love
and prayer for the victims and the relations of the
martyrs. That is your duty at this time.

Don’t allow yourself to be used by satan. If you do,
satan will use his people to run to you and disturb
you the more. This is an opportunity for them to
disturb your faith with their negative words. Those
who hate you and those who want you to die will
run after you because of this issue. It is not that
they love you but they want to see your
countenance, your appearance, how you look and
whether you are worried. Never allow this.
Remember Jesus. Don’t change your words in a
moment. Jesus is Lord.

What you saw happen - God is aware. If God is
aware, who else is aware does not matter. The
martyrs, victims and relations want to see your
faith grow; they want to see the work of salvation
and the work of God in your life continue. They
want to see you serve the Lord the more. The only
way you can allow the work of God to continue is
to be with yourself and God, not to allow intruders
and people around you to advise you and tell you
what to do when they could not stop what
happened.

I pray the satanic agents should be the only ones
to suffer this. I said, our God will get back to them.

Warn your family and brothers about their talk. You
will know I am a man of God this time. People who
are looking for your downfall and run to disturb
your spirit, warn them to be careful of their tongues
and the people who come to them. God is a God of
vengeance – anybody can go for it.

You cannot help me, only God. Don’t disturb me;
please leave me with God. You will see the
outcome. I am saying this so that only the people
who did this will suffer for it and you will not in any
way suffer for it. The people who are writing
whatever they are saying - all of us will see the
outcome of this. Leave it for God.
I have been on this journey for 27 years. Do you
think God can close His eyes and rubbish
everything here? They are asking God to bring
more evidence of whether He is the One who
called me. Warn everyone to be very careful. This
issue at hand is a delicate issue.
People are using all this to gain money and friends.
This is a warning. Whatever anybody wants to
write, let them write it; they will be the ones to read
it.

I said, our God will get back to them. He has
started somewhere. He is coming. If your brother
is involved, unless he can resurrect the people
who died, he will join them. If you can resurrect
the people who died, you can go free. The
servants, the people who sent them, the people
who heard the stories all around and those who
want to use it for themselves and disturb my spirit,
you may likely join them. Be careful. To be
forewarned is to be forearmed. Let us be very
careful of our tongue.

Your responsibility is to the victims and the
relations of the victims and martyrs of faith. If you
say you are born again, wherever the victims and
their relations are, wherever the relations of the
martyrs of faith are, look for them. Let them know
you are praying for them. What you eat, let them
eat it. What you wear, let them wear out of it. What
you have on your table, let them have it on their
table, too. Share what you have with them – your
love, prayer, affection and strength. Share it with
them at this time. This is what we call ‘born again’
– my pain is your pain. Your joy is my joy.

The multitudes of people who claim to be with T.B.
Joshua in prayer – if the same people turn to the
families of the victims and martyrs of faith, do you
not think life would be better for them than before?

Join them, look for them, as many others are doing
now.
